Transition to her big girl bed...

So over the holidays we got her new room all set-up and it looks great. Scot painted the walls and they are a really cute bright green that matches her bedding. We got her a new white daybed and its perfect! So we got her room all set-up, minus the stickers for above her bed and a armoire to match the white but set-up enough for her to use it. We started taking naps in it two days ago and it went much better than I expected. She tried to climb out twice, got stuck once and that was the end of it. She fussed a bit but then went on to sleep. That night I was expecting a bit of a battle but she did great, no fussing and went straight to sleep!! Since then we have had NO trouble, nothing but good sleep.

I am so glad that I made the transition now rather than waiting until later b/c I think it would have only gotten harder the older she got!!

Here are a few pictures of her sleeping in her big girl bed:

18 Week Appointment

Hooray for another uneventful appointment. I have gained 5 pounds, WHAT?? How did that happen? So that was a bit shocking but I am going to blame it on the holidays, who doesn't gain weight during the holidays? We heard the heartbeat and it sounded great, he was able to find it right away and it was really strong. He measured my belly although I never really know what that is for and he never mentions it so I don't worry about it!

I talked to him about tieing my tubes while he does the csection, and yes I am sure I want to do that. He gave me a few reasons, all non-medical as to why I should not do it. He even compared a woman's body to a hot rod, he said that he had one and he never drove it fast but he knew it could go fast. So basically even though I never want to use the baby-making parts its somehow going to make me feel better to know that I can?? Anyway, I told him that I have always only wanted two children, I have to healthy girls so what else can I ask for. I also shared that because of Ali's issues with blood clots and birth control I did not want to go that route again. He said that he understood and he would do it but under protest. Scot, being the smartie that he is, asked him if he was going to march, which got a laugh but he said that he would just under protest.

I asked about taking off work, he said that I could take off whenever I could afford not to get paid. I told him that I disability coverage that I wanted to take advantage of and basically he told me that unless we had a good medical reason that he did want to take me off work. So as for now I have to work up until two weeks before the baby is born and that sucks. I was really hoping to get some time off to spend with Kennedy Jane and NOT work before Kallie comes along. But oh well!

Everything is great, we go back again in 4 weeks!

Christmas Day 2008

What a great day! Last night Scot and I were up until about 9:30 putting stuff together and getting it set out. She was so excited this morning, she came running into the den to check it all out. We got lots of cute pictures of everything. I think she liked the Clippo and the Pony the most but she loved the airplane when we got it outside. She has already broken into the crayons and I am sure the new bath toys will be a hit tonight when she gets in!
Lunch was amazing! The boys fried a turkey and it was SO SO good. Mom and I cooked Mac & Cheese, Brocolli and Cheese Casserole, Sweet Potatoe Casserole, Dressing and Lima Beans and Cheryl (mom's neighbor) joined us and made Green Bean Casserole. We had more food than we could have dreamed of eating so we will have more tonight and probably for lunch tomorrow.

I must say that this year was a lot more fun than last year with Kennedy Jane b/c she really got it this year, or at least more so than last year. I think next year will be even better b/c she will really understand.

Its also hard to believe that next year we will have two little girls that we are celebrating with!

Its a GIRL!!

We found out today that we are having another beautiful baby girl! We had our 17 week ultrasound today and she looks great. They measured her head, could see her heart and it was beating at 160 which if I remember right is just about what Kennedy Jane's was. They saw her kidneys, spine and arms and legs and everything looked great. She was moving a good bit and then we got the goods shot, and there is no doubt its another girl. I think Scot is a bit disappointed b/c he really wanted a boy but I think once he gets used to it he will love having two daddy's girls! We go back and see Dr. Madonia next Tues for our regular check-up.

Her name is going to be Kallie Suzanne, or if I get to spell it Kali Suzanne. Its after my sister, Ali, her name is Alison Suzanne. And my grandmother, Nonnie, that died right after Kennedy Jane was born used to try to call one of us and get us mixed up and call us Ka-Ali so that's where I got Kallie and I love it!!

I am really excited for Kennedy Jane to have a sister, I am so close to my sister that I really wanted that for Kennedy Jane and Kallie both!! Here are some pictures of her:

16 Weeks

I am 16 weeks pregnant as of yesterday. Things seem to be getting a lot better, I feel good most of the time. I am still tired a lot and things wear me out but overall I feel good. The round ligament pain has started and that can be really painful! We go a week from today at 8:30am to find out the gender of the baby and also to see the baby again on ultrasound. I am really excited about finding out but more ready to see the baby again and just get confirmation that everything is ok. I always feel better when I can actually see the baby and know that everything is ok.

Christmas Card

Well I am a slacker, usually I do a card with Handsome in it and come up with something really cute. I had a great idea this year but just couldn't manage to make the time to take the pictures that I needed so I decided to just make my own with Kennedy Jane. I think it turned out really cute and maybe next year I will start doing the creative ones again!

Christmas Pictures!

We took some great Christmas pictures although getting a good picture of her is getting more and more difficult. She just doesn't want to sit still or do what we ask her to do! They turned out good despite her best efforts at the contrary!

Deck the Halls!

Well we went to get our Christmas tree last weekend and it was quite an adventure. While we were there one of the employees stole my cell phone. I knew someone had taken it b/c I knew exactly where I left it. We looked around for it and the owner's son said that he did see it. So we started calling it and eventually found where he had hidden in a barn used to flock trees. It was a bit upsetting but I was glad to have it back.

We came home and Kennedy Jane helped us decorate the tree. She really enjoyed it, wanted to help put the ornaments on the tree and just like last year put the star on top of the tree with Daddy's help.

Here are some pictures of her decorating the tree and then in her santa outfit with the tree:

14 Week Appointment

Yet another uneventful appointment, and those are always the best kind. I have gained 2lbs since my last appt which is not bad at all considering how much I ate on vacation!! My blood pressure was normal, he measured my belly and I assume it was normal b/c he didn't mention it. He was able to find the heartbeat quickly and it sounded really strong! He ordered a CBC b/c of the dizziness episodes and I guess we will discuss that at my next appointment.

We scheduled the big ultrasound for December 22nd, 2008 at 8:30am! I am so so excited, the whole family will go again and it will be a lot of fun. And then I go back to see him on Dec 30th and I will be 18 weeks. So far everything is going great!

Thanksgiving in St John

We had a BLAST!! We had to get up at 4am to catch our 6am flight out of New Orleans. It wasn't too bad until I felt like I was going to pass out waiting to get through security and had that feeling several times more before we finally got to our gate and were able to sit down. Our hopes of Kennedy Jane staying asleep were quickly dashed before we ever got out of the hotel. Our flights were easy and we made it to St Thomas. There we had to hop a cab to the ferry dock and take a ferry to St John. Everything had gone smoothly until we got to St John to pick-up our rental car and they had already left for the day. It took us 45min to get that situation resolved and get in our rental car headed for the villa.

After traveling some pretty crazy roads we finally got to our villa which was beautiful, except the a/c throughout was not so, it was all screened windows and open doors with a small wall a/c unit in the rooms. We were all a bit worried that we were going to be hot but it ended up being just fine, just a bit sticky from the humidity. Here is a picture of the villa from the deck of the pool:

The stay on St John was great, Sunday we went to Jost Van Dyke, a British VI and it was beautiful.

Here is a pic of the beach on Jost Van Dyke:

Tuesday we went to St Thomas to shop to discover and island wide power outage. Mom, Ali, Kennedy Jane and I checked into the Westin b/c they were running on generators, however, at dinner their generators over-loaded and power went out. They got it restored only to have it go out around 1am and stay off for about 3 hrs.

Here is a pic of Kennedy Jane playing out by the pool at the Westin:

The rest of the trip went great and we were NOT ready to come home!!

12 Weeks Pregnant!!

2nd trimester here I come! I got to stop taking the Progesterone on Sunday and so far haven't noticed much of a difference. NO side effects so that's good news, means my body was ready to come off of it! I did try to stop the Zofran last night and well, that wasn't such a good idea. I was up at 3am fighting off the urge to hurl, so I took a Zofran and finally went back to sleep. Guess I will stick with the Zofran a little bit longer! I have felt the baby a little here and there, the baby is still so small I don't feel it much but I think the reason I feel it so much earlier this time is b/c I know what it feels like! We go back to the doctor on Dec 1st and then we will schedule our gender ultrasound and I cannot wait!!

Job Changes

There is always reason to worry when at 11am on Friday you get an email that there is a mandatory teleconference at 1pm. I had plans to take Lauren to lunch at noon for her birthday so we had to shuffle that to earlier to make sure I was home in time.

Basically they are once again re-structuring the way the claims department works. They are going to a 50/50 model based on the notion that 50% of our claims come from field territories and 50% of our claims come from phone territories. So they are moving 50% of the reps into a full-time office position and leaving 50% of the reps as field reps. With 7 of us, that meant 4 field reps and 3 office reps. They were basing this decision first on geographics and claim volume, well I knew immediately that was me, the claims volume in Mobile has been pretty low compared to this time last year so I figured it was me. Veronica, my boss, didn't want to tell everyone who was going where with everyone together so I waited over 2 hrs to find out my fate.

I will be moving back inside as an office rep. In the grand scheme of things, no biggie and really a good deal for me. When I first started with Nationwide here in Alabama I was an office rep handling Montgomery claims. It was not until a co-worker here in Mobile got promoted that they moved me to a field position, about a year ago. I was horribly upset b/c I had to leave Kennedy Jane. Now I will go back to a complete office position which means NO leaving Kennedy Jane and this new baby and almost as good as that is never having to get dressed up for work!!

The drawback is I lose my company car and that stinks big time. Its been nice Scot and I both having company cars b/c we have no carnote, no insurance, no gas. However, we were planning on buying a used Tahoe or Yukon by next summer anyway and the company gives me $3000 before taxes for the loss of my company car so it will all work out. We will just use that money to pay the carnote and insurance and it will all be fine!

So now we get to shop for a new car and I get my big SUV back!

10 Week OB Appt

We had our 10 week appointment yesterday and it was uneventful, the best kind! I have lost 1lb since my last appt 3 weeks ago so I am pleased about that! I lost weight in the beginning with Kennedy Jane and lost it all quickly after she was born so I am hoping the same thing will happen! I am assuming my blood pressure was good b/c she didn't comment. We were able to hear the heartbeat twice, the first time he found it he lost it and then found it again. It was right where I thought it would be b/c I was certain I was feeling the baby move. Now that I know where the baby is I am certain I have felt the baby move. We go back in 14 weeks and then schedule the big ultrasound for 17 weeks. I am hoping to get in a little earlier than 17 weeks as we found out at 16 weeks with Kennedy Jane! At 12 weeks I can come off the Progesterone and I am really looking forward to that b/c it makes me so tired! So far everything is going really well! Now if I could just get to feeling better!

Trip to the Fair

We took Kennedy Jane to the Fair yesterday and she loved it! Thank goodness Aunt Ali was there b/c Mommy's stomach could not have handled all those rides that go round and round and everytime we would get off of one she would say "ginn" and would want to immediately get back on the ride. I think the carousel and the bumble bees were her favorite!!

The weather was gorgeous and totally perfect! I will say its amazing how expensive the fair is now, I can't imagine taking her and this new baby when they are older and really want to ride a bunch of stuff. Its going to cost a fortune!

8 Weeks Pregnant

I have made it to 8 weeks, about 3/4 of the way through the first trimester and boy will I be glad when this 1st trimester is over!! I have been so sick, waking up during the night and not sleeping well. This is all so different than with Kennedy Jane so who knows if that means this is a boy or this pregnancy is just different!

Here is a picture of my belly at 4 weeks and then again at 8 weeks to compare, not sure I see much of a difference but its getting there.

Loss of Jackie's Mom

We got bad news to start this week off, Jackie's mom died this morning. Jackie is a WONDERFUL friend to all of us and a really genuinely special person. Her mom has been ill for sometime now and the blessing in all of this is she is not in pain anymore and is resting comfortably. We are awaiting news on the services.

Pregnant with a Toddler

No one could have prepared me for this, I mean it was bad with Kennedy Jane but I cannot remember it being this bad. Maybe that's b/c I slept through most of the first 12 weeks but I can't do that this time. I have to change diapers, make breakfast and try to play. This is so much harder than I thought it would be. Your body must have an amazing way of convincing you that what happened wasn't really all that bad so that you will do it again (and for some people again and again). I am very grateful that I only want two children b/c I could not do this a 3rd time! I would do it a hundred times over for Kennedy Jane and I feel the same way about this baby but gosh why does it have to be so hard!?

Our 1st Appt for our 2nd Baby!!

So today we had our first ultrasound and appointment for this new baby. The first thing we did was go to our ultrasound. I have to say that it was just as amazing the 2nd time as it was the first. The baby is measuring right on track at 6w1d and we heard the heartbeat which was measuring at 115. That is perfect, and it drops the probability of a miscarriage down to below 2% which is very comforting! Here are two pictures of the new baby:

We then saw Dr. Madonia who said that everything was going just right. I have to stay on the Prometrium (progesterone) until 12 weeks which stinks but is totally worth it! He gave me a Rx for Zofran in case the queasiness gets worse. We see him again in 4 weeks and he said we would get an u/s after that, not sure what that is for but I guess we will see! I will be 10 weeks then!
